Community

Being a family run operation, Maple Leaf Tours appreciates the value of our community. We get involved with many local activities and organizations, and especially try to give back to schools. We get to share in the joy of many class field trips and we like to help return that joy when possible.

We recognizes the importance of supporting our community and are dedicated to giving back through charitable initiatives. Ways we stay involved in the community:

  • 15U Kingston Colts – www.kingstonbaseball.ca
  • 14th Annual Fogies & Friends Golf Tournament – www.seniorskingston.ca
  • Kids for Kids Charity Golf Tournament – www.country935.ca

We have made a five year commitment to supporting the Limestone Learning Foundation. The Foundation ensures funding for unique and creative learning opportunities. Donations cannot be used for regular school expenses like staffing, school renovation or maintenance, school supplies, or transportation. Instead, donations to the Limestone Learning Foundation are only used to provide students with exciting, enhanced learning opportunities through the allocation of approved grants to schools.

In addition to our commitment to the Foundation, we also frequently support the Limestone Food Sharing Project. We often donate tours as auction items to raise money during fundraising events. Our huge Travel Showcase in May, 2010 raised $1,300 that went directly to the Food Sharing Project. The Food Sharing Project is an attempt to ensure that children do not go through their school day hungry. Approximately 3,800 students are fed daily in about 80 sites in the Limestone District School Board and the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board.

We really believe in investing in children – a good start in life can make all the difference, so in addition to schools we also support minor hockey teams by offering discounted charter rates. The cost of extracurricular activities can be astronomical, and every little bit counts, especially in an expensive sport like hockey. We’re working towards a successful season with 26 local minor hockey teams this year.

For many years we have provided daily shuttle service for the Kingston Hospitals – KGH and Hotel Dieu and for Queens University. Staff of the University and Hospitals are able to leave their cars at Richardson Stadium and take the free shuttle service to their destination, saving on parking fees and easing congestion in the downtown area.

We truly appreciate the recognition of our community.

Thank you very much for your generous donation to Crossroads United Church’s silent auction which is happening at the Annual Christmas Bazaar. The silent auction is very well received and bidding for all donations is brisk. Thank you again for your donation and helping to make this year’s Bazaar a most enjoyable event!
