Day 1
Sunday, August 16
8:00am A warm welcome to our fellow travelling friends, old and new, as we get ready for a wonderful adventure to the Magical Maritimes! As you arrive this morning at the Maple Leaf Lounge/Kingston Shrine Club (3260 Princess Street at Collins Bay Road), come on inside to check in with your Maple Leaf Tour Director and meet your fellow travelling companions before we get underway! We’ll have stops for a comfort break and lunch on your own along the way as we travel along the southern shore of the St. Lawrence River to Quebec City. We’ll have a mid afternoon check in at the Hotel Clarendon www.hotelclarendon.com, inside the fortification walls and across the park, a block from the Chateau Frontenac. Relax and freshen up before we enjoy a welcome dinner together in Quebec City! The rest of the evening is yours on own to enjoy the ambience of this historical city and browse the quaint shops. (D)
Day 2
Monday, August 17
Following our breakfast buffet this morning, we depart at 8:00 am. The Gaspe Peninsula is a mostly coastal region of eastern Quebec surrounded by the St. Lawrence waterway as well as by the Bay of Chaleur. Today we will cross the Gaspe at its narrowest spot travelling through the picturesque Matapedia Valley. Route 132 splits at Riviere du Loup to form a loop. We will go along route 132 north travelling along the Gulf of St. Lawrence, overnighting in Matane, a maritime town located along the majestic St. Lawrence River and at the mouth of the Matane River. On the way we will visit the Métis Gardens located near Matane. You will have lunch on your own and tour this internationally renowned horticultural achievement, which resulted from Elsie Redford’s passion for gardening. This gardener’s paradise is home to over 3,000 species and varieties of native and exotic plants. There will be plenty of time for photo opportunities. Day 3 & 4
Tuesday, August 18 & Wednesday, August 19
After a wonderful included full breakfast, we depart at 8:00 am, taking a leisurely trip north and east following 132 with the Gulf of St. Lawrence on our left all the way to Perce for our two-night stay. Included lunch today will be at Auberge Le Caribou. Our hotel for the next two evenings is the picturesque Hotel Riotel Perce, located right on the beach with a stunning view of Percé Rock and Bonaventure Island! Phone 418 782-2166. Riôtel Percé. THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE GASPÉ PENINSULA! Without a doubt, Percé is the highlight of any visit to the Gaspé Peninsula. Every year, this small village attracts visitors from all over the world who come to admire imposing Percé Rock and neighbouring Bonaventure Island, which together make up one of Canada’s most beautiful national parks. EXCEPTIONAL LOCATION, Admire the stunning view of Percé Rock from our patio, your room, our La Bonaventure sur Mer restaurant or our outdoor spa! You will be delighted with the enchanting setting and the fishermen on the docks as well as Percé’s cultural life and tourist attractions. A full breakfast is included each morning. On Wednesday, sightseeing includes a boat ride around the famous Perce Rock and Bonaventure Island, home to a world-renowned Northern Gannet colony. You will also see puffins, cormorants and murres. This afternoon we are free to enjoy and explore the village of Perce. Although Perce now has a mainly tourist vocation, it used to be an important fishing center. Day 5
Thursday, August 20
Enjoy your full breakfast once again before we board our coach at 8:00 am to depart Perce. Today we will choose 132 south to continue around the Gaspe Peninsula hugging the shoreline along the Bay of Chaleur. On our journey homeward we are sure to find the most diversified and picturesque bays and coastlines, valleys, and mountain landscapes. Included lunch will be at Auberge La Coulée Douce. We check into the Hotel Universal, Phone 418-862-9520. Relax and freshen up before we enjoy our included farewell dinner! (B,L,D)
Day 6
Friday, August 21
Once again, a full breakfast is included this morning before we begin our travels homeward. In the morning, we will pause to visit St. Jean- Port-Joli and the wood carvers. We estimate a 6:30 pm arrival at the Kingston Shrine Club in Kingston. (B)
