Tuesday, October 14
A warm welcome to one and all as we meet our fellow travelling companions at the Maple Leaf Lounge in the Kingston Shrine Club, 3260 Princess Street at Collins Bay Road. Let’s check in with your Maple Leaf Tour Director before we depart to begin our Ireland Experience! Today we depart Kingston at travel to Toronto for our Aer Lingus Flights to Dublin!

Day 2
Wednesday, October 15
Following our arrival in Dublin, you will be taken on a tour of Dublin – Ireland’s capital city on the banks of the River Liffey. You will see The Georgian Squares with their 18th Century houses, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Phoenix Park, statue filled O’Connell Street and the fashionable Grafton Street. You will also see Trinity College which in its library houses the Book of Kells. Following your city tour you will check into the
Camden Court Hotel for a two night stay. This evening you will enjoy an included dinner in your hotel. (D)
Day 3
Thursday, October 16
This morning you will travel to Glasnevin where you will visit Ireland’s largest cemetery also known as the City of the Dead. Since the cemetery opened in 1828, more than 1.5 million people have been interred here. The cemetery contains the graves of many of Ireland’s most prominent national figures such as Daniel O’Connell who established the cemetery in 1832, Charles Stewart Parnell, Michael Collins and many more. You will have a guided tour of the cemetery which gives a valuable insight into the final resting place of the men and women who have helped shape Ireland’s past and present. You will also have time to visit the cemetery’s award winning museum before departing. No visit to Dublin would be complete without a visit to the Guinness Brewery founded in 1759 by Arthur Guinness. Here you will enjoy a self-guided tour of this new state of the art visitor centre. Your visit concludes with a leisurely pint of Guinness in the 360-degree roof top bar while enjoying some spectacular views of Dublin City. The remainder of the afternoon and evening is free. (B)
Day 4
Friday, October 17
This morning you depart Dublin and travel south to County Wicklow known as The Garden of Ireland. Your first stop this morning will be Powerscourt House and Gardens. This Palladian Mansion built in 1730 was badly damaged by fire in1974. It was re-roofed in 1996 and opened to the public. The garden’s at Powerscourt were first laid when the house was built in 1730 and a century later the 6th Viscount Powerscourt instructed his architect, Daniel Robertson, to draw up new schemes for the gardens. From here you continue to Glendalough (Valley of Two Lakes) where you travel back in time with a guided tour of this early 7th century monastic settlement. Your tour continues through the beautiful Vale of Avoca to the Avoca hand weavers (the oldest in Ireland) and experience this very old craft with a guided tour of the weaving facility. From here, you travel to Waterford for a one night stay in the Tower Hotel. (B, D)
Day 5
Saturday, October 18
This morning you will visit the House of Waterford Crystal and see highly skilled local craftsmen demonstrate crystal
blowing and cutting in a new state of the art visitor center. You then continue along the southern coastline traveling through the towns of Dungarvan and Youghal to Blarney where you will visit Blarney Castle and Gardens. The castle was built in 1446 and today you will have an opportunity to climb the spiral stairs to the top of the castle and kiss the famous Blarney Stone said to bestow the gift of eloquence on all those who dare. As you make your way through the castle grounds, you can also visit the Castle Gardens and Rock Close. From here you travel to Killarney for a two night stay in the Killarney Plaza Hotel. (B, D)
Day 6
Sunday, October 19
Today you will enjoy the unspoiled beauty of The Dingle Peninsula. Once cited as ‘the most beautiful place on earth’ by the National Geographic. You will travel back in time as you see some beehive huts (early monastic settlements) dating back over a thousand years. Your tour will take you to the most westerly point of Ireland where you can view The Blasket Islands. You will also see some of the locations for such films as “Ryan’s Daughter” and the more recently filmed “Far and Away” which starred Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. You will have some free time in Dingle town for lunch before returning to Killarney. This evening, you will travel to Kate Kearney’s Cottage where you will enjoy a traditional Irish dinner in a cosy, informal atmosphere followed
by the best of traditional Irish music, song and dance.

Day 7
Monday, October 20
This morning, you bid farewell to Killarney and travel to Tralee, capital town of County Kerry and famous for The Rose of Tralee Festival. You continue to Tarbert where you board the Shannon Ferry, which crosses the Shannon Estuary to Killimer. From here you take the coast road to the majestic Cliffs of Moher standing 214m (702 feet) at their highest point, O’Brien’s Tower stands near the highest point and has served as a viewing point for visitors for hundreds of years. Following some free time to view the cliffs, your tour winds its way through the lunar type
landscape of the Burren which takes its name from the Irish word ‘bhoireann’ meaning, ‘a stony place’ or ‘a rocky place’, which is a good description for this 350 sq. kilometres
limestone plateau. The rough, intriguing and attractive
landscape was formed 320 million years ago under a tropical sea. You continue along the shores of Galway Bay to Galway City where you will check into the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill for a two night stay. (B, D)
Day 8
Tuesday, October 21
Today you will take a break from the hussle and bustle of the mainland and travel to Rossaveal where you will board a ferry to Inishmore- the largest of the three Aran Islands and one of the highlights of the Wild Atlantic Way. The island is steeped in history and resembles an outdoor museum with over 50 different monuments of Christian, pre Christian and Celtic mythological heritage. You will take a mini bus tour of the island which will include a stop at the world renowned forth of Dun Aonghasa which stands over a dramatic 300 foot cliff that spans the entire western part of the island. You will have time to walk to Dun Aonghasa and enjoy the spectacular views before boarding the ferry for your return journey to Galway. (B)
Day 9
Wednesday, October 22
This morning you depart Galway and travel through
Connemara made up of mountains, lakelands and boglands. Because of its wild and rugged beauty it has been the
location for many films. “The Quiet Man” with John Wayne and Maureen O Hara and in more recent times “The Field” starring Richard Harris. You will have a stop in the town of Cong, one of the main locations for the Quiet Man film before heading north passing by the Knock Shrine now an internationally recognized Marian Shrine with one and a half million pilgrims visiting annually. You continue to Sligo and have a stop in Drumcliffe. St Colmcille founded a monastery here in the 6th Century. There only remains today, three High Crosses and the stump of a round tower. It is also the final resting place of one of Ireland’s great poets William Butler Yeats (1865 – 1939). His grave is marked with a simple headstone with the inscription, “cast a cold eye on life, on death, horseman pass by.” You continue by the foothills of the Benbulben mountain range to Belleek where you will enjoy a guided tour of the world famous fine parian china manufacturing center. From here it’s on to Donegal for a two night stay in the Mill Park Hotel. (B, D)

Thursday, October 23
This morning you depart for a tour of County Donegal, the most north-westerly county in Ireland. You will stop in Ardara – centre of the Donegal homespun and knitting industry where you will enjoy a complimentary Irish Coffee and some free time for shopping in the Triona Design center. Your tour continues around the foothills of the Blue Stack mountain range before stopping for lunch in Leo’s Tavern – family home of Ireland’s international singing star Enya. Poets, painters and writers have never fully succeeded in conveying the varied beauty of this wonderland of mountains, lakes and coastline. You continue through the scenic Finn Valley before returning to Donegal town. (B)
Day 11
Friday, October 24
This morning you travel to Derry where you will enjoy a
panorama tour of Derry City on the banks of the River Foyle. Derry City was founded in 546AD and still retains its 17C walls. You will also see the new Derry Peace Bridge over the River Foyle. This 235 metre long pedestrian bridge opened in
2011 and bridges a 400 year old physical and political gap between two sides of a once divided community. You continue to Limavady and from here to the Giant’s Causeway – a remarkable basaltic formation made of approximately 37,000 columns and ranked as one of the natural wonders of the world. Your tour continues along the Antrim Coast Road with spectacular views of the northern coastline and the Mull of Kintyre in Scotland before arriving in Belfast City for an overnight stay in the Europa Hotel. Day 12
Saturday, October 25
This morning you will enjoy a tour of Belfast City. You will see the City Hall – one of the finest Classical Renaissance buildings in Europe, the Linen Hall Library which has been lending books for over 200 years, the Grand Opera House often described as the most beautiful Victorian theatre in the world. You will drive by the many murals that Belfast has become famous for. They depict the history and political views of both traditions and are a way of marking territory. You will also visit Titanic Belfast, a new state of the art visitor center which tell the stories of the ill-fated RMS Titanic, and her sister ships RMS Olympic and HMHS Britannic. This afternoon you travel south for an overnight stay and farewell dinner in the City North Hotel. (B, D)
