WELCOME TO FAIRMONT LE CHÂTEAU MONTEBELLO, QUÉBEC, the AAA Four Diamond Award winning magnificent historic log cabin! Escape from the ordinary and experience a delightful retreat at Fairmont Le Château Montebello, the world’s largest log cabin! Nestled in the heart of the scenic Montebello village, surrounded by nature, the hotel is famed for its rustic yet luxurious accommodations, excellent service and refined gastronomy. Get away to the magnificent historic log château of Fairmont Le Château Montebello and get ready for a memorable holiday Historically founded as a private club in 1930, Fairmont Le Château Montebello has had the privilege of hosting many political figures, royalty and other celebrities. The resort is now an ideal destination both for leisure and business travelers. Entertainment, local cuisine, relaxation and a warm welcome is what you will come to expect as we want your experience to be truly unforgettable.

As one of Eastern Canada’s leading destinations, Fairmont Le Château Montebello is an exceptional resort famed for its rugged luxury. Here, in a stunning red cedar log château, you’ll experience rustic elegance and a warm welcome. In February 1930, the site where Fairmont Le Château Montebello now stands was just a clearing in the woods. Four months later, the massive cedar château was erected – a construction feat that captured the popular imagination of the time, inspired newspaper features across North America and attracted crowds of on-lookers.

Fairmont Le Château Montebello was inspired by the châteaux of the Swiss Alps. Craftsmen used 10,000 giant cedar logs to build the resort’s three main buildings, all cut and set by hand. The central log château, which houses all the guest rooms in the resort, has a three-story central atrium, at the heart of which stands a massive six-sided fireplace with a central chimney. For 40 years the log structure was a private retreat, whose elite membership included politicians such as former Canadian Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson and foreign dignitaries such as Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco. The resort has a number of historic meetings under its belt, including the 1981 International Economic Summit, attended by political figures such as Ronald Reagan, François Mitterand, Pierre Trudeau and Margaret Thatcher.
