London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom, is a 21st-century city with history stretching back to Roman times. At its centre stand the imposing Houses of Parliament, the iconic ‘Big Ben’ clock tower and Westminster Abbey, site of British monarch coronations. Across the Thames River, the London Eye observation wheel provides panoramic views of the South Bank cultural complex, and the entire city. We’ll have an early afternoon check in to our hotel so you can relax and rest before our included dinner tonight. (D)

From there, seagoing vessels may reach Amsterdam’s harbor, admitting passengers to the capital city of the Netherlands, with its concentric network of canals, its rich history of art, and its restaurants with cuisine from all over the world. The collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam includes paintings by Dutch masters Rembrandt and Vermeer, as well as other works of art from the Dutch Golden Age. Explore the district’s shops, galleries and art studios, and visit the Hanseatic Museum to learn about the merchants who once lived and sold here. The city is surrounded by seven mountains, and a funicular railway ride to the top of the tallest peak, Mount Floyen, reveals postcard-worthy views. Other notable attractions include St. Mary’s Church, the town’s oldest structure; the seasonal fish market, with its fresh seafood, fruit and vegetables; the Bergenhus Fortress Museum, which highlights Norway’s role in World War II; and an aquarium, where you can observe sea lions, crocodiles and more. On a catamaran cruise to the picturesque Osterfjord and Mostraumen strait, sample ice-cold mountain water your captain captures from a waterfall.

Day 9 MLT Friday, June 11 - GEIRANGER, NORWAY

The snake-like Geirangerfjord stretches between the tiny villages of Geiranger and Hellesylt, boasting waterfalls with such romantic names as “The Seven Sisters,” “The Bridal Veil” and “The Suitor.” All around Geiranger there is great hiking to abandoned farmsteads, waterfalls and some beautiful vista points.

Day 10 MLT Saturday, June 12 - ALESUND, NORWAY

Integrated into the coastal terrain, the Norwegian Aquarium has an underwater observatory, daily feeding demonstrations and an outdoor penguin park, while the Fisheries Museum, located in a warehouse built in 1861, features a laboratory that produces cod liver oil. Wildlife safaris transport you past seal colonies to the island of Runde, home to hundreds of thousands of puffins, shags, skuas, gannets and other sea birds during nesting season. For spectacular vistas of the city, ocean and surrounding Sunnmore Alps, ascend the 418 steps to the Aksla Viewpoint.
