Day 1 MLT Saturday, August 1

7:00 am A warm welcome to our fellow travelling friends, old and new, and get ready for a wonderful adventure to “The Rock”! Arrive this morning at the Maple Leaf Lounge/Kingston Shrine Club (3260 Princess Street at Collins Bay Road), come on inside to check in with your Maple Leaf Tour Director and meet your fellow travelling companions before we get underway! We start our journey today traveling to St. Hyacinthe mall, where we stop for lunch. After our brief stop, we make our way to Edmundston, New Brunswick for our first overnight at the 4 Points by Sheraton Edmundston, Phone 506-739-7321. The 4 Points Edmundston has an elevator, friendly staff, and free internet in the lobby. Get to know your fellow travelling companions over our included welcome dinner this evening. The rest of the evening is yours to enjoy- our hotel is located within walking distance of Main Street and the river, for those hoping to explore! (D)

Day 2 MLT Sunday, August 2

We travel at this morning to Cape Jourmain in order to cross the Confederation Bridge. The bridge, which opened in 1997, spans 13 kilometers Charlottetown for the next two nights. Our hotel here will be the Rodd Charlottetown, PEI, Phone 902-894-7371. This evening dinner is on your own in downtown Charlottetown. (B)

Day 3 MLT Monday, August 3

Today we have a guided tour of the provincial capital. Charlottetown offers Peake’s Quay Wharf, historic George Street, Province House, Richmond Street, Cavendish and the fictional home of the famed red orphan – Anne of Green Gables. Tonight, we will enjoy “an island tradition” treating ourselves to a lobster supper. No visit to the island is complete without this delicious indulgence! An alternative entrée will be offered for those who do not wish to partake in lobster. (B, D)

Day 4 MLT Tuesday, August 4

Today our sightseeing continues through the day allowing us to experience Canada’s only inland sea. This area is known for great sailing, incredible beauty, and Scottish hospitality. Tonight is spent in Sydney at the Holiday Inn Sydney, Phone (902)562-7500. (B)

Day 5 MLT Wednesday, August 5

The next step in our journey has us making our way to the Marine Atlantic Terminal in order to prepare for our ferry crossing. Ferry departure time is about 12:15 pm. Enjoy the relaxing 6.5 hour crossing to Port Aux Basques. Aboard the ferry, you can enjoy the restaurant and snack bar, entertainment, and internet access. Upon disembarking we will check into St. Christopher’s Hotel, Phone (709) 695-3500. There is an included dinner at our hotel tonight. (B) (D)

Day 6 MLT Thursday, August 6

Today we will discover much about Newfoundland while traveling the Viking Trail to see the awe inspiring scenery in Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and The Arches Provincial Park. We witness the spectacular coastline, quaint fishing villages and beautiful beaches and The Arches Provincial Park as we make our way north to the site first inhabited by Leif the Lucky in 1000 AD. We overnight in Port au Choix at the Sea Echo Motel, Phone (709) 861-3777. Dinner is included tonight for your enjoyment. (B) (D)

Day 7 MLT Friday, August 7

Our sightseeing begins immediately with a stop at the Port au Choix National Historic Site. Our sightseeing continues on the “Viking Trail” as we make our way towards L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, the second of two UNESCO sites we visit. We will make a brief stop at The Dark Tickle before continuing to our hotel. This evening is the Hotel North, Phone (709) 454-3300. (B)

Day 8 MLT Saturday, August 8

The scenery is spectacular as we round the tip of the great northern peninsula. This morning, we will visit the Grenfell Properties in St. Anthony. Meander through the museums and rotunda filled with artifacts from the late William Grenfell’s Estate. Dr. Grenfell dedicated his life to improving the lives of North Sea fishermen.
This afternoon we board our second ferry for the short crossing through the Strait of Belle Isle to Labrador. There is a cafeteria aboard the ferry, if you wish to grab something to eat. Labrador is a world of towering mountains, massive rock faces, huge lakes and rivers that run on forever. Here the air is clean, the water clear and pure, and the people equally unspoiled. A trip to Labrador is not a run of the mill vacation. Our home while in Labrador is the Northern Light Inn, Labrador, NL, Phone (709) 931-2332. Tonight, we enjoy an included dinner at our hotel. Day 9 MLT Sunday, August 9

This morning, we will explore the sights and culture of Labrador. We will visit the Red Bay National Historic Site. We board the ferry for our return trip to the ‘mainland’. We then retrace our steps back to Gros Morne. Our evening tonight is spent at the Shallow Bay Motel, Phone (709) 243 – 2471. Another delicious dinner is included this evening at your hotel, and there is often entertainment in the lounge for your enjoyment. (B) (D)

Day 10 MLT Monday, August 10

Our journey heads west towards Grand Falls via Deer Lake. If no emergency at the airport, we will stop at the International Air Terminal in Gander, housing the famous Airport Departures lounge reflecting the history of the Trans-Atlantic aviation. In addition, the Concierge will share the importance of this airport on 9/11 day and to the making of “Come From Away”. We will overnight for two nights at Quality Inn Gander, Phone (709) 256-3931. Day 11 MLT Tuesday, August 11

Today we will visit the beautiful out port of Twillingate. Bring your camera in the hopes that you may see a floating iceberg. We stop at Long Point Lighthouse, to snap some photos of the beautiful scenery, plus Twilingate Museum Craft Show/St. Peter’s Church before enjoying lunch at on your own in Twilingate! This afternoon, we will visit the Prime Berth Fishing Museum, where we will be entertained by storytelling and a demonstration. Tonight, we’ll stay at the at the Quality Inn Clarenville (709) 466-1717. We will enjoy an included dinner together at our hotel. (B) (D)

Day 12 MLT Wednesday, August 12

We continue along the Trans Canada Highway through Terra Nova National Park, across the Avalon Peninsula arriving in the old seaport city of St. John’s where we’ll be staying for the next three nights. Our hotel is the Sheraton St. John’s, (709) 758-8153. (B)

Day 13 MLT Thursday, August 13

This morning, we board our coach for a guided tour of St. John’s, including the panoramic view from Signal Hill, the port, and Old St. John’s. In good weather, you will get a fantastic view of the city from Signal Hill! Lunch will be on your own in Bay Bulls, before we board the state-of-the-art Catamaran for our Whale and Puffin Cruise. The live commentary presented during this 90-minute cruise is a blend of excitement, education and adventure that our group is sure to enjoy. We may be lucky enough to spot puffins, gulls, kittiwakes, dolphins, and even whales! The rest of the day and evening are free for you to see the sights on your own. (B)

Day 14 MLT Friday, August 14

Today is a free day for you to explore or go back to some of your favorite places in St. John’s! Maps of downtown St. John’s are available from the hotel. Some wonderful ways to spend your day could include the Geo Centre, Rooms Museum, the Avalon Mall, or enjoying the shopping and restaurants on Water & George Streets. (B)

Day 15 MLT Saturday, August 15

We travel across the province today, back to Corner Brook for our last night on “The Rock”. We will spend the night at Quality Inn Corner Brook Phone (709) 399-8901. The rest of the evening is yours to relax. Enjoy the Lounge and Bar or go for a walk. Almost everything is walking distance in Corner Brook. (B)

Day 16 MLT Sunday, August 16

We will need to depart the hotel early this morning. Our day today will include the 2.5 hour journey to Port aux Basques then the 6 hour ferry ride to North Sydney. Ferry departure time is 11:45 am and we must be at the terminal 90 minutes prior to departure. We say goodbye to Newfoundland and begin our ocean voyage to Sydney. Day 17 MLT Monday, August 17

Today we take in the breathtaking scenery as we make our way to Nova Scotia’s capital city, Halifax. There will be a lunch stop made enroute. We commence our 3 hour guided tour at 2:30 pm. We will visit the waterfront area, Halifax public Gardens, Titanic Grave Site, and Citadel Hill to name a few sights. The balance of the evening is free to continue exploring on your own. Day 18 MLT Tuesday, August 18

We will depart the hotel for a quick photo opt of one of Eastern Canad’s most scenic attractions– “Peggy’s Cove”, Nova Scotia’s most famous lighthouse. We will continue to old town Lunenburg a UNESCO World Heritage Centre, a walking town with colourful heritage properties, St. John’s Anglican Church and artisan shops. Lunch is on your own along the waterfront. We return to Halifax, and the rest of the day is yours to enjoy this vibrant city! (B)

Day 19 MLT Wednesday, August 19

Our journey today takes us through the province of Nova Scotia via Springhill with an opportunity to enjoy Anne Murray Centre and/or Springhill Miner’s Museum. Into New Brunswick for a group photo opt in front of Shediac’s Giant Lobster before continuing on tour to our hotel. We will take time to visit the Magnetic Hill and its shops before continuing on to our hotel for the evening. Overnight at the Delta Beausejour Phone (506) 854-4344. If the moon is at the right phase, we may even experience Moncton’s Tidal Bore from the park behind our hotel. (B)

Day 20 MLT Thursday, August 20

Today we make a brief drive-by tour of Fredericton, the capital city of New Brunswick and a brief stop at Grand Falls Gorge, before heading into the province of Quebec. Our overnight destination will be Rivière du Loup at the Auberge de la Pointe, Phone (418)862-3514. This evening, dinner will be included at our hotel. (B)(D)

Day 21 MLT Friday, August 21

Travelling via St. Jean Port Joli we make a brief visit to Musee Des Anciens Canadiens before continuing to St. Hyacinthe Mall for lunch on your own. We anticipate an early evening arrival back in Kingston. (B)
