8:00 am Welcome to the Maple Leaf Lounge at the Kingston Shrine Club (3260 Princess Street at Collins Bay Road). Come on it, check in with your Maple Leaf Tour Director and prepare for this wonderful day away!
8:30 am Departure from Kingston. This morning we will travel down the Loyalist Parkway along Lake Ontario to the Glenora Ferry that will take us to Prince Edward County.
10:00 am PEC Lavender. Are you interested in discovering more about lavender? Well, you’re in for a treat! We’ll see the fields of lavender and experience a touch of Provence in the County. This visit during the peak flowering period from late June throughout July, we will experience the definitive lavender experience. A visit to this farm will give you a different view and appreciation of these gorgeous purple fields. You will enjoy a short history of lavender, detailing the myriad of uses this wonderful flower has experienced throughout the ages.
Free tasting of our lavender lemonade, lavender shortbread and chocolate.
Find a Fossil, an activity of interest to all ages. Remnants of the Ordovician geologic period, approximately 450 million years ago, can be found in Prince Edward County. This period was host to many
brachiopods, corals and cephalopods. Join in to learn more. Tour our fields at your leisure, and enjoy the various shades of lavender, from pink to purple –
remember to bring your camera to create lasting memories of your time.
11:30 am Arrival at The Grange of Prince Edward Estate Winery. Enjoy a tour and tasting. The Mother/daughter team has poured their passion for viticulture and their love of Prince Edward County into what is undoubtedly one of the grand wineries in the region. With 50 acres of vineyards, a pastoral setting and a dramatic tasting room/barn, The Grange of Prince Edward Estate Winery is the Loyalist version of a French wine estate – complete with rich textures, historical outbuildings and old-world ambiance.
1:30 pm A scenic drive guides us through the Casa Dea vineyard before reaching two impressive chalet-style buildings set against mature forests. A tour and tasting will delight us here before enjoying a lovely included lunch!
3:00 pm Sandbank Estates Wines are crafted in small batches from grapes that are handpicked from their own vineyard. Enjoy a tour and tasting.
4:30 pm After a delightful day we leave with wonderful memories of our day in Prince Edward County.
5:30 pm Approximate arrival back in Kingston.
